Laura Kathryn Shuler is Sweetie's mother. She is the daughter of Henry C. Shuler (1857-1939) and Hannah Lucetta Dow (1866-1917) She settles in Lacona, Iowa by 1940. When the Podcast begins in 1941, Laura is supporting her husband, the town Doctor, as a nurse, and is busy taking care of the family home.

Laura is an extremely patient woman.
