Serrill E. Demaree (a.k.a. "Uncle Serrill")

Born: June 12, 1888 in Johnson County, Indiana

Married to Mary Davis

Serrill E. Demaree is Sweetie's uncle.  He is the son of John Samuel Demaree (1847-1936) and Clarissa Evelyn Elkins (1855-1926), and as such, is Chester Demaree, M.D.'s brother.  Serrill was first married to Hazel Thompson on September 4, 1907, and he had two children with her - Catherine and Mark.  However, Hazel passed away on December 31, 1909.  Serrill then married Mary Davis, with whom he had a daughter named Helen Frances.

Serrill is one of the closest members of Sweetie's extended family on the Demaree side.  Through the letters, she revealed that she spent at least one summer living with her Uncle Serrill and her Aunt Mary, and Chester (Sweetie's father) is clearly close with Serrill in particular.  Chester seeks Serrill's advice when he determines whether or not he should purchase a farm in Lacona in early 1945.
