Sidney Bonsall Lewis is Lew's mother.  She is the daughter of Joseph Leedom Lewis (1837-1907) and Anna M. Matlack (1843-1925).   As a member of the Matlack family in southeastern Pennsylvania, Sidney is the 3rd great-granddaughter of Colonel Timothy Matlack, Jr., who was one of the clerks of both the First and Second Continental Congresses, the scribe of the Declaration of Independence, and the Secretary of Pennsylvania during the American Revolution.  Sidney takes great pride in her revolutionary heritage, as did her son Lew (Colonel Matlack's 4th great-grandson).

Sidney, known as "Gmom Graham," cared greatly about her family, but was devastated by the loss of her third child, Samuel Graham, Jr., who died in an accident at the age of 19 in 1935, and mourns the loss of her husband, Samuel Graham, Sr., when he passes in October 1945.
